October 3, 2004

We have now arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are resting up at a little Bed and Breakfast before heading up to Zambia in a couple of days. And do we need rest! We got about 9 hours of sleep in 3 days on our journey over here.

Johannesburg is more familiar than not to Los Angeles. They have Kentucky Fried Chicken and Peanut Butter. So it's as close to home as you can get really.

On the way here, we took a quick excursion into London and did a "Charles Dickens" walking tour of the city. It was quite enjoyable. Nothing like listening to a story teller spin a tale as you walk through the historic reaches of old London. And we got a chance to stretch our legs between flights. And get lost when we ventured out on our own after the tour. The Thames River eluded us at all turns. We luckily got 'found' by a local pub barkeeper before our flight departed.

Next update will be from Zambia!

Best Regards,
Cindy Hicks
