We landed in Lusaka, Zambia yesterday and discovered it to be much hotter than Johannesburg. In town we did discover that Subway Sandwiches and KFC have made their way to Lusaka. Aren't you jealous? But we do understand that the rest of the country will not offer such American treasures. Our trek from the airport to our accommodation at Eureka Hostel and Campground was uneventful. Our accommodations are quite nice there. We actually have beds and shared communal hot showers and a bar! Mosi Beer!

Early this morning, we awoke and decided to make a trip to the Sheila (bathroom). We stepped outside, and saw a few Zebra and Springbok milling about and munching on new green grass. As we carefully edged toward the Sheila, we incited a stampede of Zebra! And almost got overrun! (Note - this may be an exaggeration...)

We have taken on English accents, as we are traveling with a largely UK contingent.

This coming Sunday, we will be waking at 3am to take a 12 hour long bus ride on public transportation up to Mpulungu (?). We will overnight there, and then take a 5 hour ferry boat ride to Nsumbu camp.

We are enjoying this immensely!

Best of luck wherever you are.

Best Regards,
Cindy Hicks
